Announcing: K1 Shield, Epic First Product Launching Soon

Hello Everyone!

The Kinematek team is excited to announce the launch of our first product — The K1 Shield Phone Case. All photos and information are currently based off of the prototype versions of the product. We will continue to update you on new information as soon as it is available. The K1 Shield Phone Case is still in production and is likely to look different in its final version. The attached information/images below are the most up to date progress of our design.

Phone Case Materials

This phone case will be a bi-material phone case, consisting of a TPU 95A shock absorbing inner layer, and a recycled PCTG outer shell to resist scratches. We source our recycled PCTG from Austria, and the phone cases range will range from approximately 30%-39% recycled plastic by mass.

Camera Lense(s) Protector

Additionally, the case will include a sliding camera cover feature made from recycled PCTG, to protect your phone’s camera lens(es) from dust and scratches.

Lightened Phone Case

The back of the phone case displays a hexagonal lightening pattern in order to reduce weight, while maintaining a strong outer case. This hexagonal lighting pattern is also reflected on the interior of the TPU, where the phone makes contact with the case to ensure good impact absorption.

Diagonal Speaker/Button Structure

One of our favorite parts of the phone case is the aesthetic design of the speaker ports and buttons. In order to print holes that support the material above them, we have implemented a diagonal support structure that allows sound to pass through. A similar design was used for the buttons, though it was made more solid to allow for a better user experience.

Phone Case Variations

We plan to have the phone cases available in a several different variations: iPhone 8/SE2/SE3, iPhone 12mini/13mini, iPhone 13/14 and iPhone 15. Additionally, it will be available in black, blue, grey, red and orange.

Estimated weights for the phone cases vary between each model, but it ranges between 29g – 40g, making the case a light-medium weight and effortless to use.

Final Notes

We plan to launch our phone case early December, potentially with pre-orders preceding the launch.

This product is the first of many. The K1 shield marks not only the beginning of the K1 series, but the beginning of our part in pushing for sustainability. We will continue to strive for more sustainable practices in our production and our company as a whole.
