Hello Everyone!

The Kinematek team is back to give an update on our R&D. As before, all photos and information are currently based on prototype versions of the product. We will continue to update you as new information becomes available. The K1 Shield Phone Case is still in production and may look different in its final version. The attached information/images below show the most up-to-date progress of our design.

Corner Reinforcement

One of the most important updates to the phone case is the corner design. By replacing the corner material with TPU 95A and extending the corners outward slightly, we’ve significantly improved the phone case’s drop performance. The recycled PCTG now extends flush with the back face, improving both durability and impact resistance, and serves as the baseplate that holds the structure together.

Camera Lense(s) Protector

The most significant change we’ve made to the design of the phone case is the removal of the camera lens sliding cover. After surveying a large population of users, we found that most people did not prefer the sliding cover. Instead, we have replaced it with a large O-ring bump for faster, easier access to your camera and flashlight. Next to the O-ring, you will notice a flat face that will display the company logo (rebrand in progress!).

Final Notes

We regret to inform you that we will not be launching the iPhone 8/SE2/SE3 variation, though it may be added in the future depending on demand. Additionally, we have managed to reduce the weight even further, putting the phone case at around 26g–32g, and it is now made from over 50% recycled plastic.

We’re still on track for an early December launch and can’t wait to share the final product with you soon. Thank you for following along — more updates coming soon! More information will be posted here shortly.
